Eastern Kentucky Outbreak

This photograph was taken outside of the River Fill 10 Cinemas in Pikeville Kentucky. It was sent to me late last night. Things seem to have gotten worse not long after that. It seems sighting have been seen all over the Eastern Kentucky border and parts of lower West Virginia boarding the state line.

This is not the video I was trying to get a hold of. But this is one that was sent to me this morning. I am still trying to get in touch with my contact about the other video.

As for this video I am a little unsure of how real this is, seeing that the person that sent it is someone I don't really know.

I have removed the video. I did this because the person who sent it also sent me this message this morning.

"Siz, dud i can tbelive that u fel fo that. Zombiez isn't reel, n dat vid was just sumn' i seen round fo yearz. FUCKER! I isnt seein an zombiez around her, so day isnt reel."

I guess we can't trust all the facts that we are being sent. I just didn't feel that it would be right to leave a misleading video up. I want to post the facts, not the fiction. I should be getting a nice shipment of new pictures soon from Dewain, the guy that sent me the first pictures and is going to send the video. I hope the video is in with it. See he can text the pictures to my phone one at a time, but Dewain has had a very hard time trying to find a computer that still has an Internet connection. From what he told me over the phone today that its madness and a lot of the lines are down.

Dewain sent me this one by phone today. He said it from around the same area in Pikeville.

I just need to ask, that if you are from around this area please send some proof. So far that only pictures we are getting is coming from over in Pikeville, and I know this has spared much further then just there. If I could I would go out and take some pictures myself... I just don't have a camera.

I don't know whats wrong with this camera, but I took this one today with a camera I had found. I don't think I will be using it anymore. all the colors are wrong, and it kind of hard to even get it to take the pictures. I will have to find a new camera.

I found this news paper today it had an article in it with this picture of one of the walkers. It just looked like something that could help with the proof. Sorry for the lack of the article itself... thing is I have resorted to old news papers for my... how should I put this... bathroom needs.

I haven't heard from Dewain in a few days now, I hope he is alright. If any of you all see a living man over towards Pikeville with a camera phone taking pictures of the undead tell him to give his good old buddy a call. We need him back home. Thanks.

It has been madness. I have been running now for the last few days. I have been trying to snap a few good pictures along the way as well. Still have that messed up camera, but I have worked on it some. So soon as I can, I will be posting the pictures and tell you all what is going on.

I don't know this guy, but it sounds like he might need help. So I am going to make a stop by there in a few days when I am passing by. If he still alive I am sure he will be more then happy to have some help.

He said he was checking out the Mores Trailer Park area when he came across a still running car. He was attacked by what seemed to be its old owner. He stabbed it in the head and got away, leaving the car and the now broken camera. Lucky for us he got the SD card before hitting the road. Thanks for the video will. Keep safe.

It seems that once the dead made it over the hill they had started to spread out fast. There is no telling how many effected areas there are from here to there. As of now the state of the virus in Louisville seems to be low and not a full blown outbreak. Anyone in this area should try to seek safety. By all means do not head east. Its just far worse here then where you are now.

I received an e-mail today from a medical UK student, Micah Samuli, that has been held up in one of the university's science labs. In the e-mail he informed me that while held up he has been doing an independent study on the structure of the virus. What he told me doesn't make things seem any better.

The e-mail is long and I will just sum it up.

First he tells me how a virus will mutate from host to host. Not a big change but it will change slightly. Before the outbreak there was only one virus that all humans could be infected with. That is the AIDS virus. What he has found is that the current virus that is effecting us right now is akin to the AIDS virus. Micah says that he strongly believes that what is bringing the dead back to life is no other then a new strand of the AIDS virus. He does go on to tell me, he can't prove this 100%. He doesn't have all the thing he needs to prove this as a fact. He is curtly using a text book and the blood of an professor that he himself had to put down a few weeks back.

He promised to keep me posted on any findings that he makes. He is worried that he may be running low on food and may have to try and make a run for it in a week or two.

I hope Samuli can give us some good news with his studies.

Micah Samuli contacted me today. He said that his studies have had to come to an end. He had to make a run for it. Here is his e-mail--

"Mr. Maynard,

I am saddened to tell you I do not have the time to do my research anymore. It has gotten so bad here that one of them had gotten into the lab over night with out me knowing. I took care of her, but I now fear for my life for then before. I thought I was going to be safe in here.

You had said something a few weeks back to me about heading north. I look around on the net and I found some one outside of the states that is willing to help us, any of us refugees. His name is Samuel La blue, he lives up in Canada close to Victoria Island, he said will get over there on the island and scout out places for a camp of sorts.

Well I got to go, I am going to get ready to leave out.

Not really much to give you all... I am sorry. Trust me I am tying my best. I am no longer in my home... in fact I did spend a few days on the top of a big rig truck, just to stay out of reach of the damned things... Right now I am in a house of some people I didn't even know and I am looking all over for a new camera. I am also desperately trying to get a hold of my contacts... None have answered. Well I am going to go pump me some water for the night. Keep safe.

I would say that I don't think that I have any good luck, but I must have some I have made it this far with out getting bit or killed. But, I still can't help but feel that I am ever so unlucky. I had to make a run for it again, leaving behind most of my food in that house. Damn thing went up in flames about a week ago and I have been on the run for days. Right now I am sitting in an old libery on the first floor, in Inez. Its a small town... Well big enough for it to be called a city. I really feel like my luck is running out... The only food I can find is a little thing of yogert in the back, that is about four weeks old and a can of coke... I hate coke, but its something to drink.

I know people have been here before, because the place is messed up in spots and also there were some IMs left open on this computer that I was on... It looks like the person who was here left after talking to someone over in Paintsville about a safe place by the lake. Lots of food and you just have to get out on to one of the little islands if shit hits the fan. I think I am going to try to make it there... I am looking at about a week long walk but maybe its some kind of hope... and If its safe I will give the word. Until next time, stay safe.
